Although one is not saved by baptism, nevertheless, obedience to compliance is essential to obeying the commands of Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20. Suitable Candidates for Baptism -- We believe that the only suitable persons to receive this ordinance are those who have exercised a personal saving confession of faith in Christ, and are regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Consequently, infants ought not to be, and cannot be scripturally baptized, since they can neither exercise, nor profess that faith in Christ.
